Beau is a Coton de Tuleur. The breed originated in Madagascar, where they were bred for the French Nobility. They are show dogs in Europe, but here in the U.S. they are treasured pets. Coton is french for cotton and Tuleur is the city in Madagascar where they originated.
Beau is 2 years old, and we have had him since Memorial Day 2010, when we brought him home from the breeder in Sandwich. As a baby he had a black spot over his right eye and another one on his back, but they both disappeared. He is totally white now. He was three months old when we got him. It was like bringing home our first child….. we were so nervous. It had been a long time since we had a pet.
Beau has a very sweet disposition. He is a real lover… loves everyone and kisses them all over their face if they will let him. He also adores all of the friends that he has made at Nauset Pet Service, He gets so excited when he arrives each Monday, Wednesday and Friday for daycare.
When home, Beau is diligent in protecting us from the squirrels and the crows in the backyard. He barks at them and they either climb up the closest tree or fly away.
Beau loves to play with his tennis ball, pushing it around the floor with his nose and then running after it. He also likes to play with his gray squirrel and his red lobster.
He is our “baby” and we love him sleeping on our bed at night. If we have to get up during the night, he is right there, waiting for his tummy to be rubbed.
And we wouldn’t have it any other way!!
